Usability Specialist
Statement of job responsibilities:
- Working with design teams on a day-to-day basis with
responsibility for implementing product usability plans and meeting
usability goals.
- Designing and running lab and field studies for Microsoft
applications, systems software, and associated documentation and training
materials.
- Analyzing usability data, reporting and interpreting findings, and
working with design teams to implement appropriate solutions.
Requirements:
- 2+ years experience conducting usability studies in the computer
industry.
- A thorough knowledge of human computer interaction issues as well as
product design methodologies.
- Demonstrated research design skills are a must, including knowledge
of a variety of behavioral research methods.
- Interested in candidates with degrees in cognitive, experimental or
human factors psychology; computer science with a human factors emphasis;
anthropology; and related fields.

Human Factors
Engineer
Statement of job responsibilities:
- Working with users and software development teams to: gather and
analyze user and task requirements, prototype user interface design
alternatives.
- performing usability testing of proposed user interface designs.
Requirements:
- Degree(graduate preferred) in a human factors related field such
as computer science, psychology or industrial engineering with a
particular emphasis in user interface design and HCI.
- Course work/research in cognitive psychology, experimental design and
statistics.
- Desired qualifications include knowledge/experience
of: Telecommunications or data communications industry, user interface
design guidelines(OSF/Motif, Macintosh, Windows).
- Design with one or more UI prototyping tools such as UIMX, Open
Interface, Visual Basic, Hypercard.
- Computer programming experience a plus.
