This award commemorates the careers of the Thornbrough sisters. Emma Lou Thornbrough (1913-1994) was a teacher, researcher, and author who left a profound mark on Indiana history. Gayle Thornbrough (1914-1999) made he contribution as editor, librarian, and administrator. Her legacy endures for all to see in the work of the Indiana Historical Society.
