Welcome to the home page dedicated to the preservation of the biological integrity of Indiana’s lakes and reservoirs. This site was generated during research completed by the Indiana Lake Management Society in collaboration with the Biological Studies Section of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the Indiana Biological Survey’s Aquatic Research Center. This site is divided into several sections. The first section contains general information that includes a guide to the lake fish species of Indiana, photo gallery, and background information of lakes. The second section describes specific lake sites sampled in Indiana by the research team, which gathered data during 1999-2000 field collection years. The third section is a technical guide documenting the results of the research: a guide to assessing lakes. This approach describes how the research team conducted the study, as well as the methods of data collection for fish and invertebrate sampling. This area is intended for use by those interested in specific methods for sampling lakes. The final section contains other projects. The primary goal of this project is to protect aquatic communities for future generations of Hoosiers to enjoy.
This project was funded in part by a grant (#ARN 305-2-01-382) issued by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to the Indiana Lakes Management Society. While these organizations played a significant role in the development and implementation of this project, the presence of their logo’s here is not meant to imply their endorsement of the contents of this web site. |
