The Center supports life history studies for minnows, darters, sculpins, crayfish, and other non-game species. Aspects of the life history of all Indiana minnows and darters have been studied for age and growth, fecundity, and early life history. The Center has supported the completion of detailed studies of the Tippecanoe darter Etheostoma tippecanoe, harlequin darter Etheostoma histrio, streamline chub Erimystax dissimilis, gravel chub Erimystax x-punctata, bigeye chub Hybopsis amblops, creek chub Semotilus atromaculatus, redfin shiner Lythrurus umbratilis, scarletfin shiner Lythrurus fasciolaris, jade darter Etheostoma cf sp. zonale, banded darter Etheostoma zonale, western sand darter Ammocrypta clara, eastern sand darter Ammocrypta pellucida, orangethroat darter Etheostoma spectabile, northern studfish Fundulus catenatus, banded sculpin Cottus carolinae, and mottled sculpin Cottus bairdi. These studies will be published through the Aquatic Research Center's Miscellaneous Papers of the Indiana Biological Survey Aquatic Research Center.
