IU spring break trips more than a day at the beach
Kelly Donoughe, spring director of IU's Alternative Break Program, said there is a huge demand not only at IU but also at universities around the country for service programs for students.
"I've seen a big movement of students in college that dedicate their spring break to helping people," Donoughe said.
IU's break program offers 13 trips, with three scheduled during winter break, which travel across the country and this year to Nicaragua and Peru. The trips address everything from environmental and wildlife conservation to global economic development and hunger and health in urban communities.
