Fall 2012 Connector

From our Executive Director, Maggie Stevens:

Whether you are an administrator who provides the financial support for such initiatives, a faculty member teaching service learning courses or engaging your students in community based research, a staff member coordinating volunteer opportunities for thousands of students over the course of a year, or the student who is working to connect your academic goals with community goals through service…THANK YOU!
By the end of this summer, I will have spent time on nearly 20 Indiana college/university campuses and no matter how many times I visit a campus, I continue to be impressed. I’m impressed by the number of individuals I meet with who are committed to helping students learn and develop into engaged citizens while ensuring that their campus is partnering with the community to meet its most pressing needs and answer its most challenging questions.
As we celebrate our 20th year of service to the colleges and universities of Indiana, I invite you to join us in sharing ideas, celebrating successes, and thinking big about the future of civic engagement and higher education. Throughout the months ahead, our eBrief series will include fun facts about Indiana Campus Compact and its member campuses, updates on our 20th anniversary celebration, and opportunities for you to engage with Indiana Campus Compact through events, funding, and awards. We look forward to seeing you at these events and helping you deepen the service engagement work for your campus along the way. In the meantime, don’t forget to say THANK YOU to those who have helped grow and sustain community engagement work on your campus and in your community.
