International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the US Department of State and the US Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

If you are planning to live on campus, you may want to consider one of IU’s Living-Learning Centers that have an international focus: Foster International, The Global Village, and Kelley Living Learning Center!
comprised of more than 190 students, is a coed community where American and International students live together in a supportive on-campus environment. The community is designed to bring students from diverse backgrounds and academic interests together in a setting that promotes intercultural understanding and communication. In recent years, the community has included students from over 20 countries from around the globe. Foster International provides students with opportunities to participate in a range of educational, cultural, and recreational events such as: local and international service learning initiatives, outdoor adventure trips, intramural sports teams, movie nights, and cultural celebrations. Students should have an interest in interacting daily with students and visitors from other cultures and backgrounds.
Students living at Foster International enjoy 24-hour access to newly remodeled/expanded computer lab, 4 floor lounges, air-conditioning, wireless high-speed internet, in-building laundry facilities, a variety of leadership opportunities, and interactions with special international visitors (scholars, artists, and other guests) staying in the community’s guest suite facility.

is a residence hall committed to preparing students with a broad range of international interests for life in the global world of the 21st century. Open to all IU students, freshman through senior, the Global Village is a great place to enjoy internationally focused activities; meet faculty and others who have lived, traveled, and worked overseas; improve your foreign language skills or just talk about the world with other students who share your interest in global issues. The ultimate mission of the Global Village is to expand student’s knowledge of world affairs and foreign languages and cultures, prepare students for travel overseas, and assist students in accessing IU’s and Bloomington’s many international resources.
The Global Village is a coed community made up of approximately 100 students. Living in mostly double rooms, Villagers enjoy air conditioning, exclusive access to a language-computer lab, and kitchen facilities. The building is wireless ready and there are two classrooms located in the Village where internationally focused courses are offered. For students planning a career in business, the Kelley Living Learning Center (LLC) offers incoming freshmen the best of all worlds. Foster International and the Global Village are both located in Foster Quad, while Kelley Living Learning Center is located in McNutt Center, both in IU’s Northwest neighborhood, a short walk to the center of campus. They are near the Wells Library, the Kelley School of Business, the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, the Health Center, the Academic Support Center at Briscoe, Gresham Cafeteria, the Hoosier Den, and the Student Recreational Sports Center.
