Mission and Goals
Mission Statement
The Office of International Services (OIS) is committed to assisting international students and scholars in the accomplishment of their educational, social, and professional objectives at Indiana University.
We achieve these goals through a wide range of quality programs and services including:

On-going orientation and other educational, cultural, and social programming to help facilitate the acclimation and integration of international students and scholars into the academic, cultural, and social life at Indiana University and within the Bloomington community;

Advising on and facilitating compliance with US visa and immigration regulations, including maintenance of status requirements, employment authorization, and travel;

Assistance with financial matters and planning, health insurance requirements, US tax issues, and personal issues or concerns: and

Serving as liaison with US government agencies, foreign embassies, and sponsors and educational foundations that support international education and exchange.

- Employing a strategic planning process that engages all staff and aligns work effort, structure, and resources
- Ensuring effective internal communication and coordination of office operations

Promoting international student and scholar access to US higher education and ever-expanding opportunities to meet the objectives of their stay

Ensuring that staff have the means to remain up-to-date in their areas of expertise, as well as appropriate opportunities to expand their knowledge, skills, and competencies
- Creating flexible systems and structures to enable all staff to be empowered and accountable in a team-based environment
2009-10 Goals
- Develop a national model for best practices in working with international student association leaders.

Maximize the integration of staff expertise and technological advancements to most effectively accomplish our core mission.

Develop systems and procedures to achieve excellence in all aspects of immigration advising for students enrolled in the Intensive English Program.

Refactor the iOffice application suite and related business practices to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services in the SEVIS II environment.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive iOffice client management strategy.
