Updated June 17, 2009
This page provides information about temporary housing upon your arrival at Indiana University. Temporary housing on the IU campus is available for international students attending orientation. International students must indicate when registering for orientation that they plan to stay in temporary housing.
Summer housing is at Eigenmann Residence Hall at IU. If you arrive in Bloomington after August 1, 2009, you may arrive at any time (24 hours a day) to Eigenmann Residence Hall (1900 East 10th Street) and you will be able to receive accommodations. Please note that housing before August 1 is extremely limited. Information on contacting the staff at the building if the front doors are locked will be posted on the front doors.
Temporary housing costs $25 per night* and will be billed to your IU bursar account. The fee for temporary housing will be found on your bill along with your tuition and fees for your first semester at Indiana University.
If you plan to live on–campus, you will need to sign a contract either before your arrival or within your first two nights in temporary housing. Contracts must be signed at the Assignments Office, which is located at 801 North Jordan Avenue. Office hours are 8:00am–5:00pm weekdays. After signing the contract, you will be able to stay in temporary housing at $25 per night until you move into your assigned on–campus housing.
* If you plan to live off–campus, you will only be allowed to stay in temporary housing for a maximum of two nights for $25 per night. Warning: If you remain beyond your 2–day limit, you will be charged $100 per night beginning the third night!
You will be able to move into your assigned on–campus housing for the 09–10 school year in August 2009. The tentative date for this move is August 21, 2009, for students who will be living in temporary housing.
All students can move in to their Fall housing assignment on Wednesday August 26, 2009.
If you would like to move in to your Fall assignment between August 23–26, 2009 you can sign up here, then click on “Early Arrival Requests.” Questions can be directed to early@indiana.edu.  The fees for moving in early will be billed to your Bursar account.
If you would like to move in to your Fall assignment on Friday August 21 and you are not living in temporary housing, you must email early@indiana.edu with this request and indicate your name, IU ID number and that you would like to move in on Friday August 21, 2009. The fees for moving in early will be billed to your Bursar account.
If you will be taking the Bloomington Shuttle from the Indianapolis airport to Bloomington, the shuttle will stop at the IMU and you will need to call a taxi to take you to your accommodations. Please ask the staff at the desk inside the IMU for taxi information. However, if you check with the shuttle driver he may be able to drop you off at Eigenmann.
