Incoming first-year undergraduate students please note the first-year undergraduate live-on requirement at Indiana University.

This page provides information about arrival housing upon your arrival at Indiana University. Arrival housing on the IU campus is available for international students attending orientation. Please indicate if you need arrival housing in the Pre-Arrival Checklist.

If you arrive between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday:

If you have a signed contract with Residential Programs and Services (RPS), report to Ashton Residence Center (1800 East Tenth Street)

If you do not have a signed contract with Residential Programs and Services (RPS), visit the Residential Programs and Services Office (801 N. Jordan Avenue), to complete a contract and receive your assignment.

If you arrive after 5:00pm,

report to Ashton Residence Center (1800 East Tenth Street) for a temporary assignment. You can get a permanent assignment with RPS when the office is open.

If you do not intend to live with RPS, you can receive housing for one night by reporting to Willkie Residence Center.

Students reporting for Summer I orientation (May 56, 2011)

Earliest you can arrive on campus and receive housing, 8:00am, Tuesday, May 3, 2011.

If you have a signed contract with Residential Programs and Services (RPS), you will be billed $30 a night for your arrival housing.

If you do not have a signed contract with Residential Programs and Services (RPS), you will be billed $30 for the first night, and $100 starting the second night until you sign a contract or move to your office campus housing option.

The fee for arrival housing will be found on your bill along with your tuition and fees for your first semester at Indiana University.

Please note:

RPS will do its best to assign you to your permanent summer space when you arrive, however because you will arrive during our spring semester finals week, you may be required to move to your assigned housing for Summer Session I, on May 8. If you arrive on or after May 8, you will not need to stay in arrival housing! You may simply move directly into your assigned housing. If you are an international student who plans to live off-campus for Summer 2011, you will be billed $30 the first night. The cost increases to $100 a night starting the second night for arrival housing.

Students reporting for Summer II orientation (June 1314, 2011)

Earliest you can arrive on campus and receive housing, 8:00am, Friday, June 10, 2011.

If you have a signed contract with Residential Programs and Services, you will be billed $30 a night for your arrival housing.

If you do not have a signed contract with Residential Programs and Services, you will be billed $50 for the first night, and $100 starting the second night until you sign a contract or move to your office campus housing option.

The fee for arrival housing will be found on your bill along with your tuition and fees for your first semester at Indiana University.

Please note:

RPS will do its best to assign you to your permanent summer space when you arrive, however because you will arrive during our summer session finals week, you may be required to move to your assigned housing for Summer Session II, on June 17. If you arrive on or after June 17, you will not need to stay in arrival housing! You may simply move directly into your assigned housing.

If you are an international student who plans to live off-campus for Summer 2011, you will be billed $50 the first night. The cost increases to $100 a night starting the second night for arrival housing.

Dependents and family members of students will not be able to stay in arrival housing. You may wish to consider the Indiana Memorial Union, which is located on the Indiana University campus or other accommodations located within the city of Bloomington.

If you will be taking a shuttle service from the Indianapolis airport to Bloomington, the shuttle stops at the IMU, Eigenmann, McNutt, Read, and Willkie Residence Hall. From the IMU you can walk or call for a taxi to take you to your accommodations. If you ask the driver of the shuttle bus, he might make a stop at arrival housing depending on his schedule. However, do not plan that this will happen.
