International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the US Department of State and the US Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

If you arrive in Bloomington after 10:00am on June 15, report to the Office of International Services on Tuesday, June 16 at Franklin Hall 306, to check in. Office hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00am–12:00pm and 1:00pm–4:00pm.
If you are planning to stay in temporary housing at Eigenmann Hall, please note that the center-desk will be open 8am–Midnight on weekdays, and 10am–Midnight on weekends. Students arriving before 8 am or after Midnight should call the on-call Resident Assistant (RA) to check into temporary housing. Instructions for calling the RA will be posted for students to follow.
Remember that the rate for temporary housing is $25/night for the first two nights for students with a signed housing contract with RPS. The rate increases to $100/night for students who do not have a signed contract with RPS.
Dependents and family members of students will not be able to stay in temporary housing.
RPS dining services has some limited dining options on campus during the Summer semesters. Please check with the front desk staff at Eigenmann for a list of hours and locations for dining options on campus.
You may choose to eat at restaurants off-campus, which are only a short bus ride away. There are also a number of restaurants located within easy walking distance of Eigenmann. Click here for a list of restaurants. Please call ahead to make sure it is open. We suggest that you take the bus or a cab if you are not sure how far it is. Note, however, that very few places will be open July 4 as this is a national holiday.
The weather is currently warm. In June, the temperature can range anywhere from about 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, with an average around 27. There is always a chance of rain, so please bring an umbrella and/or rain jacket, as well as good walking shoes.
All international students will be automatically enrolled in IU’s insurance policy unless they submit a waiver to our office by June 30. In order to have the waiver accepted, students must submit a copy of their insurance policy and it must meet the minimum federal requirements. Female students must have maternity coverage.
