Enrollment at Indiana University

Persons in H-4 status may enroll part or full-time in university classes, including intensive English courses at the Center for English Language Training at IU.

H-4 dependents may also “audit” courses.  Auditing a course enables you to attend all of the lectures but at a much lower price; you will not, however, get academic credit for the course.  A typical graduate level course would cost about $2000* if taken for credit; that same course costs about $85* if audited.

Any course with a number of 500 or above (e.g. R515) is a graduate level course.  These courses are for master and doctoral level students and thus are generally more challenging.  The numbers 100–499 denote undergraduate courses.  Undergraduate courses tend to have younger students.

The Office of Continuing Studies can assist with registering for courses.  To enroll in a degree program, persons in H-4 status should contact the Office of International Admissions.

* Plus related fees.  As a person in H-1B or H-4 status, you may be eligible for the Indiana resident rate.  For more information, please visit the Registrar’s website.
