Indiana University Policy on Permanent Residency
Labor certification is the first step for many foreign nationals wishing to obtain lawful permanent residence based on their employment with Indiana University. Department of Labor (DOL) requires employers to pay all costs associated with preparing, filing, and obtaining labor certification, and prohibits the employer from transferring these costs to the beneficiary.
In order to ensure compliance with federal immigration and employment requirements, the university has established policies and procedures to be administered by the Office of International Services (OIS) Bloomington for university-sponsored permanent residency petitions. The policy identifies which petitions are handled by OIS Bloomington, which ones must be referred by our office to one of three outside attorneys, and which petitions are made outside of university procedures.
Please contact a member of the scholar services team in OIS at (812) 855-9086 if you have questions.
