Capstone Mentors

International Studies students are required to have a faculty mentor who can supervise their Independent Readings (INTL I415), guide the progression of their Capstone Seminar, or direct their Honors thesis. Students are strongly encouraged to seek mentors among IU faculty with whom they have taken courses and whose research interests strongly match the student’s research topic.
When choosing a mentor students should carefully consider the faculty’s research interests, time constraints and willingness to assist in their research goals. Whereas first request to faculty can be achieved via a carefully crafted e-mail, a meeting in person is important to confirm the willingness of the faculty to serve as a mentor.

Mentors can be found among International Studies core, adjunct and post-doctoral faculty, as well as the Capstone Mentors list below. The Director of Undergraduate Studies and the instructors of the Capstone Seminar can offer additional guidance and advice regarding suitable mentors.
