The Indiana University Librarians Association (InULA) is pleased to announce that Ms. Sharon Griffith, a student in the School of Library and Information Science at IUPUI, is the winner of the 2000 InULA Scholarship Award. The amount of the award is $1,000.

The purpose of the InULA Scholarship is to encourage and reward potential for excellence in the library and information science profession. Because of the importance of a scholarship recipient's personal statement of philosophy of librarianship and career goals as a basis for the award, InULA publishes the essays of scholarship winners in InULA Notes. Ms. Griffith's essay, "To Be a Librarian -- Accessing Information in the Computer Age, or Service With a Smile," appears in this issue.
