Vol. 21, No. 2 Zotero Workshop
In February, Chanitra Bishop presented a program on the Zotero, the Firefox plug-in designed to help you collect, manage, and use research sources. Bishop is the Instruction and Emerging Technologies Librarian in the Wells Library Information Commons/Undergraduate Library Services in Bloomington. Zotero is an open source bibliographic management tool that is available as a Firefox extension. Zotero stands apart from other bibliographic management software in its unique ability capture citation information with the click of a button. Zotero works seamlessly with web sites such as Amazon.com, Wikipedia and the New York Times as well as IUCAT and databases such as Academic Search Premier and JSTOR. Zotero also makes it easy to include citations in papers with its Microsoft Plug-in. The 2.0 beta version allows users to sync a Zotero library across multiple computers, share their library with others and obtain metadata for PDFs. It is a powerful research tool that has been embraced by many inside and outside of the academic community. A recording of the talk is available: http://breeze.iu.edu/p53469189/
