Policy for Non-Completion

This course ends on May 25, 2009. If you do not complete the course by then, it is your responsibility to communicate with your instructor, as an incomplete grade at the end of the semester is given only in cases of medical emergencies and other extenuating circumstances.

If you do not complete the requirements for the course on time, the instructor will give the grade that is most appropriate:

FN (failed for non-attendance) is given to indicate that the failing grade was earned because a student failed to participate in the course or stopped participating before the course was over. Participation in this online course consists of communication with the instructor, posting in Oncourse, turning in assigned work on time, and completing the VoyagerU modules. (Your progress will appear on a VoyagerU online participant progress report that your instructor can access.) A student who has ceased communication with his/her instructor may receive this grade.

I (Incomplete) may be given to indicate that the work done is satisfactory or better, that the majority of assignments have been completed, and that only a fraction of the course work remains unfinished. The student needs to make specific arrangements with his/her instructor regarding how and when the rest of the required work will be submitted. The maximum time allowed for the removal of an “Incomplete” grade is one calendar year, but most incompletes should extend for only a few weeks or months. After 12 months, the university automatically converts the grade of "I" (incomplete) to a grade of F (failing).

If you have completed some, but not all, of the required coursework, the instructor may submit a grade that reflects your graded coursework up to date.

Activating Your IU Account

If you have never taken a course at an Indiana University campus (or haven't done so for several years), you must activate your IU account. Doing so will provide you with access to your IU username so that you can log onto Oncourse (a course requirement) and can take advantage of library services. To activate your account, visit the Account Management Services (click here) web page and follow the directions.
