IRAP Year 2: Course Requirements |
|
OVERVIEW Participants can earn up to 100 points total for the two major course requirements:
For an overview of the Inquiry Project, please see the Inquiry Project Home Page (click here). Inquiry Project Grade Your instructor will support you through the process of inquiry, a process that you can continue to use for your own professional development long after you have finished the course. Your instructor will not be evaluating the extent to which each of the products you submit is "right" or "wrong." You should feel free to explore new areas and take some risks with your project without the fear that you will be "graded down" for your efforts. Therefore, your grade on the inquiry project will be based on these criteria: 1. Fully completing all inquiry project assignments. 2. Attending mandatory meetings. The inquiry project includes six phases (one submission per phase). For each day that a phase submission is late (see due dates on the calendar (click here)), 1/2 point will be deducted from the 40 points allocated to the inquiry project, not to exceed 5 points (10 days) per phase. Please contact your instructor in advance if you know that you will be submitting a late assignment. Depending on the reason for the late submission, your instructor may waive the late penalty. Working on the Inquiry Project in a Group You may work on the inquiry project in a school-based group or independently. Groups should develop one product for each phase of the inquiry project, with the exception of Phase 6. For Phase 6, each member should develop and submit his/her own product. Completing all of the activities associated with the VoyagerU Modules is worth 60 of the 100 total course points.
* Note: You are encouraged to earn as many points as possible in each category. However, for the purposes of calculating final grades, no more than 225 of these points can come from "Various Activities (Expected)" per module, no more than 200 of them can come from "Classroom Application/Case Studies (Choice)" per module, and no more than 120 of them can come from "Group/Partner (Meeting)" per module. Furthermore, extra points earned in one category cannot be used towards another category, and extra points earned in one module cannot be used towards another module.
