Over
the years, Indiana University (IU) experts have worked on training
and institution-building projects on five continents. Sponsors for these programs have included the World Bank, the
US Agency for International Development, the US Department of
State, foundations, non-governmental organizations and host
country governments. Every
major IU school and academic unit has active linkages, exchanges,
and programs that share technical knowledge with colleagues
abroad. Many of these
schools and units also offer degree and non-degree programs
designed specifically for international counterparts for delivery
at IU or overseas (either on-site or via distance learning
technologies). In
addition, IU's training and development resources are greatly enhanced
by affiliations with three large consortia of US colleges and
universities: Indiana
Consortium for International Programs, Council on Institutional
Cooperation; and the National Association of Land Grant
Universities and Colleges.
The
descriptions below highlight only a few of IU's many outstanding

The
scope of Indiana University's international activities are truly
breathtaking. The School
of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (http://www.hper.indiana.edu/)
has programs in underwater science and national park
administration and maintains
close ties with colleagues in China and Hong Kong. The IU
Center on Philanthropy (http://www.philanthropy.iupui.edu/)
offers courses in Spanish in South and Central America as
well as specially tailored programs in South Africa, Thailand,
Slovenia and Australia. The
IU School of Law (http://www.law.indiana.edu/)
in Bloomington offers a Masters of Law in Comparative and
International Law for international participants and has active
linkages in Japan, Thailand and Kazakhstan; the Indiana
University School of Law -Indianapolis (http://www.iulaw.indy.indiana.edu/)
has active exchanges in France and China and an exciting
program in international human rights.
Similarly Dentistry (http://www.iusd.iupui.edu/),
Music (http://www.music.indiana.edu/),
Social Work (http://socialwork.iu.edu/);
and Library and Information Science (http://www-slis.lib.indiana.edu/)
regularly host international students and scholars and have
extensive university linkages abroad.
Many
of these schools and units also offer degree and non-degree
programs designed specifically for international counterparts and
are delivered at IU as well as overseas (either onsite or via
distance technologies). In
addition to major schools and departments, numerous Centers on the
Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses
are devoted to research and training of interest to
international participants. These
include: Center for Economics Education, Center for Excellence in Education, Center for Intercultural
Communication, Global Business Information Network, Institute for
Development Strategies, Population Institute for Research and
Training, Social Studies Development Center, and the World Health
Organization Collaborating Center in Health Cities.
A complete listing of Websites for these and other centers
is available for the Bloomington campus at: http://www.iub.edu/academic/centers.shtml and for the Indianapolis campus at: http://www.iupui.edu/research.htm.
