CIEDA started again administering the SONANGOL Training Program in 2004.  The students in this program are sponsored by SONANGOL, the national oil company of Angola.  Students come to Indiana University after completing high school and study English at CELT (Center for English Language Training).  Students stay at Indiana University until they are placed in undergraduate programs at US universities. CIEDA places students into four-year undergraduate programs  in Petroleum. Engineering, Civil and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics and Geology at universities throughout the United States.

CIEDA staff supervise the students' academic progress at CELT; organizes extra math, SAT  and TOEFL preparation classes; coordinates the university placement progress, and moves students to those universities.  In addition, CIEDA assists students in acclimatizing to life in the US and to life at a US university.  CIEDA also organizes field trips for students while at Indiana University including visits to Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis and local places of interest.
