International Studies for Indiana Schools (ISIS) is referenced in the recent book The World is Open: How Web Technology is Revolutionizing Rducation by IU School of Education professor Curtis Bonk (2009, San Francisco: Jossey-Bass, pp. 232-4, 387-8); eg, “… programs such as GNG and ISIS expand student perspectives synchronously as they personally interact with peers around the world and gain new cultural perspectives and appreciation (p.387). … It is such [programs that] make Friedman’s economic world flatter … (p.388).”
The national Goldman Sachs Foundation Prize for Excellence in International Education for Higher Education (2005). Partners with East Asian Studies Center, Center for the Study of Global Change, and Cultural Immersion Projects which included ISIS.
The American Council on Education’s Promising Practices: Spotlighting Excellence in Comprehensive Internationalization (2002). This competitive publication highlighted best practices, including ISIS, among the multiple joint outreach projects at Indiana University Bloomington.
The Dial Consortium’s International Distance Learning Programming Award (2000-2001), for two K-12 series created by ISIS for Indiana students.
