Data Resources

The Institute maintains several data sets that are available to Sociology faculty and graduate students for secondary data analysis.

  • Data from past Sociological Research Practicums (SRP). For further information, contact Dr. Cher Jamison.

  • Frequently-used social science data sets. For further information on these data sets, contact the graduate student computing lab consultant.

  • General Social Survey

  • American National Election Studies

  • World Values Survey

  • Data can also be located through other IU sites.

Statistical Data Services in the GIMSS: Government Information, Microforms and Statistical Services of the IUB Libraries coordinates the access to statistical information as well as the collection development and management of statistical data resources to meet burgeoning statistical data needs of the Indiana University community. The GIMSS acquires and manages an extensive collection of statistical information resources in both print and electronic format.

The Political Science Data Archive and Laboratory provides support and access to a vast array of statistical data sets and applications. Through IU's memberships to the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) and the Roper Center, they archive and make accessible a wealth of information ranging from social surveys and election studies to polling data and demographics.
