Orientation Video Garners NODA Award

“A Sense of Where You Are,” the video on how to cope with the academic and social challenges of college that was distributed to all participants in IU's 1998 Student Orientation, has won first prize in the National Orientation Directors Association Multi-Media competition. NODA—an international association comprised of professional administrators, students, faculty, and related organizations—chose “Sense” from among videos and slide shows that outline programs, activities, or items of interest for new students. The video was produced by Media Production, with Susanne Schwibs directing and Laura Plummer of the Campus Writing Program co-producing. Footage for “Sense” was filmed entirely by IU students (see story in the April 1998 ISS Newsletter).

Media Resources Wins Web Site Honors

The Consortium of College and University Media Centers (CCUMC) singled out Media Resources' site as Best University Site in its 1998 Web Awards. Evaluation criteria included general, content, design, and functionality categories. The CCUMC reported that Media Resources offered “a very functional, solid site which was strong on content. They featured an extensive inventory of equipment with specifications, online reference materials for users of instructional technologies, and a nice section on classrooms which included photos.”
