| The Ninth Symposium on Society
and Resources Management (ISSRM) provides a forum for scholarly and
research presentations, managerial practices, governmental policy-making,
and public discourse regarding societal concerns and issues related
to the management of natural resources.
As such, these issues transcend political,
spatial, and temporal boundaries and ultimately involve both individual
and societal decision-making. The 9th Symposium will explore these
issues through a variety of venues including plenary sessions, paper and
poster presentations, and dialogue/panel discussions.
As in the past, the Symposium provides a
setting for dialogue and interaction between natural resource managers,
social scientists, policy makers, resource management specialists,
and the concerned public.
In order to provide an organizing framework
for the Symposium, the following sub-themes were selected:
- Natural Resources Conflict: Identification,
Management, and Resolution
- Capacity Management: Models, Measurement,
and Public Participation
- Managing Current and Emerging Natural Resources
Issues
- Integrating Natural Resources Management
Within a Framework of Public Norms, Expectations, and Managerial
Systems
