OCR Rocket Version 3.5 is now available. OCR Rocket has been updated to work with Kurzweil 3000 Version 10 (tested with version 10.04). Also, support for automatically opening PDF files has been added.
OCR Rocket facilitates high speed / high volume scanning and optical character recognition (OCR) processing with Kurzweil 3000. The OCR Rocket program finds unprocessed PDF and TIFF files containing scanned pages, then automatically operates Kurzweil 3000 to perform the OCR and save the files into Kurzweil Education Systems, Inc.'s proprietary "KES" file format, the Microsoft Word "DOC" format, the rich text "RTF" format, and the ASCII text "TXT" format.
With OCR Rocket the chore of scanning directly in Kurzweil 3000, or of attending to the Kurzweil 3000 program by opening each scanned image file if scanned in another program, and then waiting for the OCR recognition process to complete so you can manually save the OCR results as a KES file is eliminated. With OCR Rocket, you can use the high speed scanning utilities provide with your scanner or from other suppliers to get the full speed and control as your scanner was designed for. OCR Rocket automatically finds newly scanned files and will process them through Kurzweil 3000 for you letting you focus your valuable time on other tasks such as scanning, proof-reading, etc.
The OCR Rocket program is available free to not-for-profit and
educational institutions.
