Third Party Access to Important Student Information

Students can designate individuals for third party access to view important student information.

IU Bloomington students have the ability to authorize another person, such as a parent or guardian, to view specific types of personal information in the Student Information System (SIS) through OneStart. Individuals granted third party access will have the ability to view financial aid award and summary information, descriptions of holds on records, grades, unofficial transcripts, class and final exam schedules, and Bursar billing account summary information.

To set up an authorized viewer, students should log into OneStart using their IU Network ID, username and password, click the “Self Service” tab, and in the “Personal Info” channel use the "Assign Access to Third Parties (Parents/Guardians)" link. Students must create a unique username and password for each authorized viewer.

To access the student's information, the authorized viewer should click the Public Services tab at OneStart, and select the "View Student Information" link, using their authorized viewer University ID number, username and password.

Students may revoke authorization at any time by removing permission from a third party viewer through OneStart.

Detailed instructions regarding this service are available through the University Information Technology Services Knowledge Base at: http://kb.iu.edu/data/auoz.html.
