Please note that the enrollment deadline for freshmen admitted for fall 2014 was May 1 (unless otherwise indicated in your admit letter). If you have questions or concerns, please call the Office of Admissions immediately at (812) 855-0661, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
If you have already submitted your enrollment deposit, welcome to the Hoosier family! Make sure that you take care of everything listed below to get ready for the fall semester!

- Create your computer account and set up your IU email account. To create your accounts, you'll need your university ID number (included in your letter of admission). You must set up your computer account to establish your IU email account, apply for housing, pay your enrollment deposit, and schedule New Student Orientation. It will take 24-48 hours for your accounts to be activated. Please note that even if you have already created an initial IU computer account when you applied, you still need to click on the link above in order to set up your primary IU email address and gain access to additional IT accounts and services.
- Pay your enrollment deposit. For freshmen entering in the fall semester, the non-refundable $100 deposit holds your place in the incoming class and must be submitted by May 1 at intenttoenroll.indiana.edu. (If you were admitted after May 1, you have three weeks after you were notified of your acceptance to submit your enrollment deposit.) The deposit will be credited as a payment toward your first-semester expenses. Freshmen and transfers who are beginning their studies in the spring semester must indicate their intent to enroll at IU through the same website: intenttoenroll.indiana.edu.
- Apply for housing. All undergraduate first-year students (with some exceptions) are required to live in campus residence halls. Applying for housing is the first step we encourage all admitted students to take, even if you’re not positive you’re going to attend IU. The housing application fee is $300, $200 of which is refundable if you notify RPS at email@example.com by July 1 that you will not be attending IU.
- Register for New Student Orientation. Starting in mid-March, the Office of First Year Experience Programs will send out official invitations to students. Freshmen entering for the fall semester must have paid the $100 enrollment deposit to receive an invitation.
- Learn about the financial aid process. Read up on financial aid at IU, and see the timeline with important dates.
- Apply for financial aid. You’ll need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1, but before March 10, to be considered for need-based aid and many of IU’s scholarship programs. This does not apply to students who are not U.S. citizens.
- Create Authorized Payer access for your parents and others. Let your parents (and whomever else you choose) set up e-bill notifications, pay bills electronically, and view bursar account details. The Office of the Bursar has easy instructions for you to set up an authorized payer.

- Plan to attend a Red Carpet Day.
- Get Connected with IU Admissions. "Like" us on Facebook so you can ask questions, meet other admitted students, and get updates about IU. So that your parents stay in the loop, have them "Like" our Parent Facebook page.
- Join our Admitted Student Facebook Page. Students can look for a roommate, join communities, schedule meet ups, or simply get to know their fellow students.
- Get college credit for your dual credit courses. If you have taken dual credit and/or college courses while in high school and would like them to be considered for credit, arrange for your official transcript to be sent directly to the IU Office of Admissions at 300 North Jordan Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47405. If you choose to have your college or university transcript delivered through Parchment or eSCRIP-SAFE, your transcript will be downloaded by our office upon receipt. If your college or university requires an email address for electronic delivery, please use firstname.lastname@example.org. For Advanced College Placement (ACP) courses, a college transcript is not required since they are associated with Indiana University and your course work is already on record.
- Earn AP credit. To receive credit for your AP exams with a score of a 3 or above, please have official scores sent electronically directly from the College Board.
- Submit your immunization information. All new students need to set up a MyHealth patient portal on the IU Heath Center website and then complete the Health History Questionnaire; all new students must also complete and submit the Online Immunization Compliance form in OneStart before the first day of classes.
- Register with Disability Services. Admitted students who need assistance can request services right away. Please be sure to request services with the Office of Disability Services for Students.
- Consider signing up for an Intensive Freshman Seminar. IFS is a two-week summer program during which you’ll take one class to earn 3 credit-hours that apply to your fall semester, live in the residence halls, and start to adjust to life on campus.
- Send your final transcript. To maintain your status as an admitted student, you’ll need to successfully complete the high school course work (or final term for transfer students) listed on your application, maintain your solid academic performance, and demonstrate continued academic integrity. As soon as your final high school transcript is available, make sure your school sends an official copy to the Office of Admissions.
