Indiana University's Commitment to You
Indiana University is committed to the goals of quality and full diversity in its admissions policies. The Office of Admissions strives to enroll a student body whose members are well-qualified to succeed in University programs and who represent the full range of diversity within our state, nation, and the world.
Admission decisions will be based on the academic quality of the applicants; no one will be denied admission on grounds of sex, age, race, religion, ethnic origin, veteran status, disability, and/or sexual orientation. In its admission policies, Indiana University supports and complies with Affirmative Action regulations. All admission decisions are made at the discretion of the University.
Your IU Story Starts Now. Apply to IU.
Before you can live on our beautiful campus, study in one (or more) of our hundreds of degree programs, and experience our exciting campus culture—from Big Ten sports to world-class arts—you need to apply to IU.
Admission to IU is selective, but there are several upsides to IU’s admission process:
- We review each application for its individual merits and qualities. We look at everything from your high school curriculum to your grades and SAT/ACT test scores.
- Our application is easy to fill out. We don’t require letters of recommendation or essays from undergraduate applicants, and our application is relatively short.
- We practice rolling admission. So if you miss our priority date, we’ll still review your application, although you may not receive full consideration for financial aid and scholarships.
Application procedures and admission standards vary for different types of students, so explore the navigation to the left to learn more about how you can apply. We also have special info for admitted students and U.S. students applying for graduate school.
Music Students
Please note that the deadline for completing the application for the Jacobs School of Music is November 1, 2012 for fall 2013 admission. Please contact the Jacobs School of Music Admissions Office at (812) 855-7998 for more information. Also beginning this year, Jacobs School of Music freshman applicants will not be considered for the IU Automatic Scholarships administered by the IU Office of Scholarships. The Jacobs School of Music will administer these scholarships, taking into consideration the combination of academic achievement and talent as it is demonstrated in the audition.
Thanks for your interest in applying to IU. And good luck!
