The Chicago Area
What's up Chicago? My name is Isaac and I'm a senior studying finance and legal studies in the Kelley School of Business. Wondering what IU and Bloomington have to offer? Take a look at my favorites and read more of my IU story below.
My Best of IU and B-town Links
- Best IU Tradition: Little 500; an unforgettable week of concerts, activities, and the famous bike race!
- Best IU Memory: Christian Watford's game winning three-pointer against #1 Kentucky. Words cannot capture the energy on campus that night!
- Favorite Restuarant: Z & C Teriyaki and Sushi; IU's cheap, tasty gem!
- Favorite Place to Watch IU Games: Anywhere on Kirkwood, but especially Nick's with its lively atmosphere for all IU fans!
When applying for college, I knew I wanted to be a part of a prestigious university with an active social life. After visiting the campus, I knew IU was where I needed to be. Bloomington (B-town) provides that college feel that you dream about in high school and has endless opportunities for every academic interest. Beyond that, the school spirit and diverse student population make IU an easy place to call “home.”
While IU may seem overwhelming at first, the campus really shrank for me once I got involved. There are tons of academic organizations available for students to join. Being a business student, I have joined numerous clubs in Kelley and participated in case competitions, both of which really helped me develop relationships and will provide a competitive edge in the job search. Also, as a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, I can say that the Greek life on campus is unparalleled. Did I mention that, like our Chicago Bulls, the basketball team is legit? In case you missed moments like IU's defeat of #1 ranked Kentucky and #2 ranked Ohio State this season, there will be plenty more to come with Coach Tom Crean leading the Hoosiers!
While I have definitely had my share of euphoric moments at IU, I have also had great experiences beyond the campus. The summer after my sophomore year, I found myself in Australia working for the Australian Accounting Standards Board, and, last summer, I worked for Wells Fargo in the Big Apple! After my internship with Wells Fargo, I accepted a full-time offer and will be working in their Investment Bank Division when I graduate. IU really has been everything I ever wished for, and I hope you choose IU for your experience of a lifetime.
