IU offers you lots of chances to be in the spotlight, whether you’re a top student in music, theatre, or art, or you just want to explore your talents.

  • The Marching Hundred has been recognized as one of the nation’s best collegiate marching bands.
  • In Opera and Ballet Theater productions, Jacobs School of Music students star in classics and world premieres on the stage of the renowned Musical Arts Center.
  • The African American Arts Institute sponsors three celebrated ensembles: the IU Soul Revue, African American Dance Company, and African American Choral Ensemble,
  • Straight No Chaser and Ladies First wow crowds with their a cappella abilities.
  • IU’s SoFA Gallery displays experimental works by regional and nationally known artists, as well as by faculty and students from the School of Fine Arts.
  • In IU Sing, IU’s largest student activity, students produce and perform song-and-dance skits to raise money for scholarships.
  • The Department of Theatre and Drama stages a variety of classic and contemporary plays and musicals each year featuring students.

An Art Lover’s Paradise

IU and Bloomington open students to a world of cultures, giving them a lifelong appreciation of other people, places, and ideas. You can enjoy global cuisines on Fourth Street, see masterpieces in the IU Art Museum, hear legendary jazz professor David Baker perform, examine the rarest of rare books at the Lilly Library, marvel at the talent at the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival, or catch a touring Broadway show, hot band, or hilarious comedian at the IU Auditorium.
