Studying abroad is a wonderful way to enhance the college experience. IU is not only a leader in overseas study opportunities but also believes international experiences are critical for success today.

According to the Institute of International Education, IU Bloomington ranks nineteenth among national research institutions in the number of students who study abroad. Nearly 2,000 IU Bloomington students a year study abroad, and IU offers more than 80 overseas programs in about 40 countries, 17 languages (including English), and nearly every field of study.

The Office of Overseas Study is staffed by professionals who help students select the programs that best suit their needs. Students do not need to be foreign language majors to participate. IU awards direct credit for overseas study so students can continue to make normal academic progress toward a four-year degree.
