Academics

We have found that many students transfer to IU because we offer the best in academic excellence and variety -- the choices and personal attention of a liberal arts college combined with the resources of a large research university. Our 133 undergraduate majors, 326 degree programs, and 4,000 courses per semester, plus options such as overseas study, internships, and honors programs, give you the flexibility and choices you want.

Learn from the Best

Our faculty are the power behind our top-ranked programs. IU's professors are nationally and internationally known scholars, researchers, and experts in their fields who value their role as teachers. We're proud of our ratio of one professor for every 20 students on campus.

A Supportive Community

You'll find personal attention too. Your academic advisor will meet with you one-on-one to help you choose a major and select your course work. We have Academic Support Centers in the residence halls, offering free tutoring, study-skills workshops, walk-in academic advising, and group study sessions.

Cutting-Edge Resources and Technology

There are academic resources and facilities everywhere. Do your research at the library's Information Commons. Write your paper in one of our nearly 80 technology centers. Get online from anywhere using the hundreds of wireless access points located across campus and throughout Bloomington. Hold a study group in your residence floor lounge. Find your own special study nook. Or build on your classroom knowledge at the IU Art Museum, the campus greenhouse, our scientific laboratories, or our multimedia studios.

Explore Your Potential

Our approach to education is individual and challenging. Check out our Distinctive Educational Opportunities to learn more about IU's unique academic programs such as the Hutton Honors College, individualized majors, hands-on undergraduate research, overseas study, and preprofessional study.
