Visit IU
See Firsthand What College Should Be Like
IU’s campus is known as one of the most beautiful in the world for its limestone buildings and countless trees and green spaces. But don’t take our word for it: come see for yourself and decide if IU’s right for you. Your visit can include:
- A student-guided walking tour
- A residence hall tour
- A group information session or an individual meeting with an admissions counselor
- A meeting with a representative from your academic area of interest
- An appointment with a representative from IU’s Hutton Honors College
Schedule Your Visit
- Review our campus calendar. It’s best to visit campus when classes are in session, although the Office of Admissions is open during most breaks and on some Saturdays. The IU Visitor Information Center also offers Sunday tours.
- Review our visit options below, including a variety of events for high school students and future freshmen.
- Schedule your visit online or call (812) 855-0661. It’s best if you can give us two weeks’ notice so we can tailor your visit to your interests. If you plan to visit in less than two weeks, schedule your visit by phone rather than online.
Options for Visiting
Discover IU Days
Offered Monday through Friday most weeks of the year and on many Saturdays, Discover IU Days typically include:
- Group information sessions, which provide a comprehensive overview of academic, cultural, and social opportunities at IU and answer questions from students and their families
- A campus tour, led by current students who are happy to answer your questions about life at IU
- An optional residence hall tour, which is available most days during the school year
Weekday visits may include an appointment with a representative from your academic area(s) of interest. Call (812) 855-0661 to schedule an appointment and arrange the rest of your visit.
Red Carpet Days
Admitted students and their families are invited to campus for these daylong visits in the spring. We roll out the red carpet and share all sorts of information about enrolling at IU. Reservations are required. Red Carpet Days will be held most Mondays and Fridays throughout March and April.
Group Visits
IU hosts special visits for groups of seven or more students from high schools and other organizations. Learn more about group visits.
Diversity Programs
African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, and American Indians can learn about IU’s ethnically rich community by participating in one of our diversity programs.
Overnight Visits
Juniors and seniors can see what it’s like to be an IU student during an overnight visit. You’ll be paired with a current student, stay overnight in a residence hall, attend classes, and more.
