Visit IU
HOST Visits
See what it’s like to be an IU student for a day. Through our HOST program, high school seniors can:
- Shadow a HOST student
- Attend classes
- Participate in campus activities
- Spend one night in a residence hall (overnight visits are offered in the spring semester for admitted students only)
The HOST program is offered October through April. Because a key aspect of the program is attending IU classes, we do not offer HOST visits that would begin on a Friday evening or Saturday.
Schedule Your Visit
The HOST Program is no longer accepting day and overnight visit requests for the 2012 spring semester. HOST visits requests will become available on our site in mid-September. In the meantime, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at HOST@indiana.edu. If you are interested in visiting Indiana University for admissions or academic information sessions, campus or residence hall tours, please go to our Visit IU Page or call (812)855-0661.
HOSTs
Our HOSTs are undergraduates who are members of the Office of Admissions Student Ambassador Program. They had many of your same questions and concerns as high school students, and we encourage you to ask them about their own college search process and experiences.
Cost
Your visit accommodations are free, whether or not you are staying with a HOST for the day or overnight. You will be expected to pay for any meals during your stay. We also encourage you to bring money for any activities or entertainment in which you might participate.
Your Responsibilities
As an IU guest, you are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the university, which are designed to build a friendly, caring, and safe atmosphere. When staying in a residence hall, all of the rules and regulations that apply to IU students will apply to you. Please review the IU Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct for specific information about these rules.
