Bouret, born in Paris in 1833, studied in the studio
of sculptor Louis Buhot and was accepted as an exhibitor
at the Paris Salon from 1875 to 1903. Specializing
in female allegorical figures that were cast in large
editions,
his work is evocative of the decorative school of French
female draped bronzes that prevailed at the end of
the nineteenth century.
