Another member of the group of young graduates of the Ècole
des Beaux-Arts, Jean-Louis Grégoire was a native
of Paris. He entered the Ècole and made his debut
at the Paris Salon in 1867, joining the swelling ranks
of young sculptors specializing in female allegorical
figure groups. Other examples of his work include bronze
editions of The Dance, Psyche, Cleopatra, and Allegro.
