T. Haehnel
Ostrich
Cast bronze
H. 22 in. x W. 12 in. x L.??
Metz 659
Although information on this artist is not known, the
natural posture and the active movement of the modeling
suggest the Ostrich may be an example of a later
(1880–1920), impressionistic style of Animalier
sculpture.
The artist may have been Belgian or Dutch. During the
late nineteenth century, many artists commuted between
Antwerp and Paris to view animals at zoological parks
in both cities.
