Carl Sorenson, working in Philadelphia at the turn of
the century, was noted for his Arts-and-Crafts-style metalwork.
He often worked in copper, making hand-hammered desk accessories
and decorative pieces, easily recognized by their verdigris
patina. His small bronzes are rarer, and they are marked
on the base with the typical “CS” bronze mark
and “Carl Sorensen” in script. Sorensen went
on to design for Tiffany in the 1920s and 30s, but information
on his subsequent career is lacking.
