Kids' Sake is the agency's annual fundraiser that takes place in March. As a member of the executive committee, students will develop
leadership skills and invaluable connections with student groups and the
Bloomington Community. The positions below are also excellent resume
boosters! Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for students to fill
the following positions:
- Graduate Chair: Responsibilities for this position
include-contacting as many graduate student organizations as possible,
presenting BFKS to the organizations, overseeing the creation of teams
for graduate students (ideally, create a personal goal for the number of
graduate student teams you'd like), and pass out team recruitment
packets. Ensure effective communication between the coordinators and
graduate students.
- Student Organization Chair: This student is responsible for
communicating with any and all IU student organizations.
Responsibilities include: contacting as many student organizations as
possible, recruiting organizations to form teams, setting up recruitment
meetings, and passing out team packets. It is highly encouraged that
this
chair sets a goal regarding the number of desired teams to recruit for
the year.
- Marketing and PR Chair: Responsibilities for this chair
include: working
with Microsoft Publisher and Word to create promotional materials;
coming up with
additional ways to market and promote the event to the campus; posting
flyers in the dorms/around campus; contacting the IDS and Greek This
Week to encourage event publicity; and organizing campus chalking,
call-outs, etc.
- Day of Events Chair: Responsibilities for this position
include: recruiting volunteers for the event days/bowling days; working
with the coordinators to collect BFKS prizes from local businesses,
etc.; scheduling guest emcees for the events; coordinating the
decorations for the bowl day; and making sure the event runs smoothly
and according to plan.
- Fundraiser Chair: Previously the First Mentors chair.
Responsibilities
for this position include: arranging fundraising opportunities for the
executive committee (i.e., canning, car wash, volunteering at
Coldstone, etc.); and creating and promoting Dine & Donates around
Bloomington. This chair is also responsible for setting up donation canisters at
local places in Bloomington and looking after the money raised for the
Bowl.
- Team Captain Coordinator: These coordinators split up all
registered
teams and respond to any questions or concerns they might have. They
also
check in with the team captains once a month (once a week in the months
leading up to event day!). These positions would be the direct contact
for the team captains.
