HHC Director of Extracurricular Activities Charlene Brown Receives IU
Foundation Award
Charlene Brown, director of the Hutton Honors College extracurricular
activities program, recently received the Jerry Tardy Pride of Indiana
award from the IU Foundation.
Brown has been director of extracurricular activities at
the Hutton Honors College and the Wells Scholars Program since
the late 1980s. She has also been associate director of the Wells Scholars
Program since 1998. Brown was praised for "her ability to
connect in a personal and inspiring way with students."
The award is named after the president and CEO of the IU Alumni
Association who died in 2001. An IU graduate, Tardy is credited with
helping to negotiate the contract for the Oscar-winning movie,
Breaking Away, and for the IU license plate program that provides
scholarships each year for children of Alumni Association members.
