Overview:

This course surveys the art of Europe and North America from the late fourteenth-century to the present. See works of art held by the Vatican, the Louvre, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and explore architecture from the Renaissance palace to the Eiffel Tower and the modern skyscraper. Learn keywords and strategies for analyzing images of all kinds. Talk through the historical events and the cultural, economic, political, and religious factors that shape and are shaped by works of art in weekly discussion sections. Experience how art historical knowledge can change the way you see your world.
