Overview:

C205: Business Communication Honors satisfies the intensive writing requirement for business majors and is a prerequisite for Kelley students to continue into I-Core. C205 helps students develop business writing, presentation, and team skills to prepare for success in academics and professional careers.

Business Communication Honors is a theory-based, skill-building course focused on developing effective strategic appeals to specific audiences in business contexts. Because communication skills develop over time, students build proficiency through multiple writing and presentation deliverables. The course will progress from individual email writing, to slide deck writing and design, to more involved team writing and speaking projects, culminating in the team formal analytical report and presentation to a real-world business client. Within this course structure, students receive early and continuous feedback on writing, presentation, and leadership skills and strategies throughout the 16-week course.

Within this honors course, students will be expected to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal communication skills and the highest level of ethics and professional conduct. The classroom is our office, and as our new "employee," each student is expected to engage the reading materials critically, interact with colleagues professionally, and strive to become a well-rounded professional writer, speaker, and leader.
