Overview:

This class examines the function and impact of the mass media in society with primary focus on the United States. We will discuss the values of media organizations and the professional and ethical values of journalists and other media professionals. We will engage in critical analysis of the relationship of the media to society as well as in an examination of the effect of political, economic, and cultural factors on the operation and influence of the media.
