The Burnett/Masters Scholarship

These are $1,000 - $2,000 non-renewable merit scholarships awarded to full-time Hutton Honors College undergraduates who begin their third year in the fall of an academic year; who have compiled a cumulative undergraduate G.P.A. of 3.7 or higher by the end of the previous spring semester (and have maintained it through the end of the following second summer session); and were not awarded Hutton Honors College renewable scholarships as incoming freshmen, or a full ride scholarship from IU (for example, the Cox Research Scholarship, Wells, or Kelley), or the equivalent of a full ride in stacked scholarships. In addition, a student needs to have filed a current year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate federal financial need greater than zero.

Current students with potential eligibility will be invited to apply in April and will receive application details via email. Applications are due in early September and award notifications are sent via email in early November.

If you meet the eligibility requirements but did not receive the email invitation to apply, please contact Bryce Campbell, Scholarship Coordinator, at

Please note: If you are packaged with need-based federal financial aid (for example, Stafford loans, Pell grants), and you receive this scholarship, your award from the Hutton Honors College may not be paid-out, in full, in the form of cash funds (i.e., as money paid into your Bursar account), but instead, may be used by IU's Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) to reduce your student loan burden.
