The Magic of the MAC
Behind-the-scenes, Onstage, and Backstage
Tour of the Musical Arts
Center
The MAC tour will be led by house manager Tridib Pal
and
will provide the opportunity to see what happens at the MAC that
produces the magic of its operas, including the upcoming production of
Don Giovanni. From the public spaces to the stage where musical
stars and stars of the future perform to behind-the-scenes shops where
elaborate sets and costumes are designed and built on site.
One of the grandest performance venues in the United States, the Musical Arts Center seats 1,460 and features acoustical design and technical capabilities that are among the best in the United States. Regularly compared to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, the main stage is 90 feet wide by 60 feet deep. The backstage area occupies more than half the building and provides a state-of-the art theater space for technical work.
