Senior Hutton student Christine White introduced Katherine Boo.

Boo's book chronicles the struggles of the residents of Annawadi, a Mumbai slum located just past the luxury hotels near the Mumbai airport. Through narrative nonfiction, Boo explores issues of economics environment, poverty, access to education, and social justice while examining the question of what it takes to reach middle-class stability if one is born in a slum.

Students asked many questions about Boo's experiences and her perspectives on journalism.
