Broadway at the MAC: The Most Happy Fella
Featuring a Pre-performance Talk by
Grammy-winning Soprano Sylvia McNair
April 18, 2009
At this special evening at the opera, students had the opportunity to
participate in a pre-performance talk with two-time Grammy-winning
soprano Sylvia McNair, a member of the voice faculty of the IU Jacobs
School of
Music. She spoke to students about why Frank Loesser's The Most
Happy
Fella is one of her all-time favorite operas and sang the
opening
aria for them! She responded to questions about the opera they
were about to see, about her career, and about the music industry in
general. Students then enjoyed refreshments before going to see the
performance, which featured IU voice professor Timothy Noble in
the lead role as his farewell performance after a very
successful 44-year career.
