"From Burma to Indiana":
A Forum on Immigration and Burmese Refugees

April 4, 2011

To open this year's Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, representatives from the Burmese Community Center for Education and from Exodus Refugee Immigration in Indianapolis, explored the issues facing Burmese refugees in Indianapolis. The panelists spoke about the services offered by these organizations and some of the political and social barriers the refugees face. The discussion later opened into a broader forum on immigration policy, statelessness, and the challenges of refugee status. A reception followed. This event was co-sponsored by the Asian Culture Center and the Hutton Honors College.
