How Can You Make Where You Live More Energy Efficient?
E-House Tour and Summer Internship Information Session

January 29, 2013

Students toured E-House, the new headquarters of the IU Office of Sustainability, and learned about the things IU does to maximize energy efficiency in a house built in the 1930s. Students learned about creative ways IU is trying to conserve energy on campus and help us understand, wherever we live, what can be done both to reduce energy use and save money!

Bill Brown, the director of the Office of Sustainability, notes, "The E in E-House refers to the E-words we use every day in the Office of Sustainability: Energy, Enviornment, Equity, Economics, and Education, but we also intend for it to stand for Example." E-House offers campus and community groups a place to meet, learn, plan, and implement sustainability initiatives.

Following the tour, students learned about summer sustainability internship opportunities with the IU Office of Sustainability and how they could get more involved with projects like greening the athletics department, local and sustainable food, and campus gardens. Pictured is Emilie Rex, assistant director of sustainability, discussing the summer internship options.
