What Is the State of the Union? And What Does it Mean for Your Future?

As President Obama prepared to deliver his State of the Union address on February 12, IU faculty from different fields came together for a discussion supper on the issues students thought most important and pressing and on the issues students thought President Obama would and should discuss.

In his address to Congress and the nation, the president was expected not only to give his view of the condition of the country but also to lay out his agenda for the future.

Marjorie Hershey, an IU professor in the Department of Political Science, discussed ways in which students can communicate effectively with people of diverse political affiliation.

James Andrews, an IU professor from the Department of Communication and Culture, discussed the likelihood of President Obama talking about the growing national debt.

Aidé Acosta, an IU professor in the Department of American Studies, talked about immigration issues.
